Artist History Cavern is a three-piece ensemble based out of Toronto, made up of Rory Sills (guitar, vocals), Ben Spivak (bass, vocals) and Ben Weigensberg (drums, vocals). Spivak and Weigensberg met at Humber College of Music, both studying jazz. They began jamming regularly, in class and out. Not long after, Weigensberg invited long-time friend and musical collaborator Rory Sills to join them, with simple intentions. However, the sound they produced was more complex than any would have imagined, and the chemistry was intense enough to get drunk on. They continued to jam in Weigensberg's basement, and formed the band Cavern, named after the legendary club where The Beatles used to play, as a reminder that every band has to start somewhere. In February of 2003, they played a last minute gig at the Tequila Lounge in Toronto consisting of a 20 minute improvised jam that would later become "Dee Groove", and were amazed at the crowds incredible positive reaction. After months of rehearsal, collective song-writing, and experimental performance, the trio have created a tight show that keeps audiences captivated. They make sure no two shows are alike, and even surprise each other with antics on stage before the night is done. Cavern is a group that feeds off the energy of the crowd, truly making every show an interactive experience. With their catchy lyrics, well-rehearsed compositions, and infectious harmonies, Cavern have created an original sound that continues to hook fans and keeps the buzz alive. The fan encouragement and feedback has been overwhelming. Cavern hope to hit the road in the near future to spread their sound to other cities, and build a strong fanbase. Word of mouth has proven time and time again to be their greatest tool. The only thing predictable about a Cavern show is the passionate vibe pouring from the stage. What lies underneath Cavern, within each member, is a deep love for the art of music, and they feel there is no better way to express that than sharing the romance with as many people as possible.
