Artist description
Styliani, Greek-born and American-trained, performed
as a soloist with orchestra, recitalist and chamber
musician. She studied with the legendary saxophonist,
Sigurd Rascher, the most important artist in the history
of the classical saxophone, following studies at the
Manhattan School of Music. Heard on International
and National Radio including the National Public
Radio in Israel, Dutch Radio, NYC’s WQXR and WKCR,
live on both the National Public Radio and the
Greek-American Broadcasts. New York City
performances at Weill Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall)
, Merkin Concert Hall,Riverside Church, Trinity
Church,St. Paul's Chapel, in Washington DC at the
Kennedy Center and other performances throughout
the US. She has performed new music in New York
City at the Greenwich House Music School, DCTV,
LaMama featured soloist in Festa Primavera:
A Night at Olde Turne Hall.
She has performed for Army Generals, His Eminence
Archbishop Demetrios, ambassadors of Israel,
China, Greece and Cyprus. She is constantly
challenging and expanding the perceived limits
of her instrument, as a performer of new music,
world music, styles from other performance
periods, and collaborations with composers
resulting in premiere performances of works
specifically written for her. She is credited
for the US East Coast premiere performance of
Dimitri Terzakis’ Der Holle Nachklang.
Styliani is also featured in the International
Biographical Centre's Who's Who in the 21st
Century. Invited to perform in the 2003 World
Saxophone Congress XIII.
