Pastacas/Barbariz: Dehemardik Datis [CD]
Finally, one of the favorites of RealTokios's music section,
Estonian Kohvirecords has made it to Japan with a split album by two artists that represent the label's rather organic side. Gentler and much more relaxed than Squarepusher, Finland resident Pastacas has showcased his skills in a performance of flute and guitar play put on top of sequenced tracks at Star Pine's Cafe last year. On this album his original sound meets the equally peculiar compositions of Barbariz, whose repertory ranges from electronic soundscapes to folk-driven acoustic and vocal pieces. Throw it all together and you get a Nordic cocktail of electronica, folk, jazz and rock elements (which some like to file under "post rock") that makes hungry for more Kohvi. Get it before it ends up next to Pastacas' previous solo effort on the worldwide "wanted" list.
