Artist History
Greener's unique mixture of simple, lush and heavy instrumentation and melodic vocals spawned from the 1997 writing partnership of Jason Cohen (guitar and vocals) and Troy Polsley (guitar and vocals). Originally a duo, greener set out to record a CD. After recording the CD, Troy and Jay decided that the songs they had spent a better part of year on were not "right". The beginning of 2001 marked a new creative point for the band, when beginning work on their self produced and engineered 4 song EP. Now with the "right" music, greener enlisted drummer, Mike Kardis (drums). In the spring of 2002, the band played it's first show as a 3 piece with Troy playing bass. After playing several shows that summer, the band decided to add Will Shelley as the new bass player with Troy now becoming the second guitar player. In October of 2002, greener began production on the first full-length album schedule for release in June 2003. As a preview to this release, greener re-released their 4-song EP but this time added a fifth song, “Little”, which will be part of the new album. Currently, the band just finished playing a slew of shows in the NYC area and is working on their soon to be named first album. |
