Press Reviews
Next up are Coventry heavy weight favourites Frakkture. With the help of the now participating audience, they rip into the night with brutal and harsh yet quite catchy riffs and growls. To see them play is to see a band fully enjoy every minute of churning out their chuggy, snappy metal. They are simple and effective, paced riffage, some very impressive drums and down right loud roars. But Frakkture are all about delivery. Hard hitting delivery, with a charming, energetic stage presence. Gentlemen of Coventry metal? No chance. Not much violence but still damn heavy. Best band on the bill tonight and the audience lap it up.

To see Frakkture live is not possible. You experience it. It’s possible to feel their music as much as it is to hear it, the almost seismic rhythm, rumbling bass and pounding percussion. Aptly named vocalist Tank prowls the stage displaying psychotic tendencies – roaring like a beast possessed through the tunes, laughing and charming between songs. Onstage they are complete, stars in the making. However, it is another thing to transfer this energy to CD. For once it is pleasing to announce that we have a winner. Produced by Iain Wetherall (Beecher) each song pounces out of the speakers with a vitality that is almost frightening, short sharp punches to the gut that leave the listener dazed and broken – but still reaching for the replay button. Influenced obviously by the sub-sludge of Raging Speedhorn, Charger and Iron Monkey the band manage to produce material that is original in sound, even injecting dynamics into a staid genre that was screaming for them. A genuinely exciting band, and my favourite demo of the last year. I’m not just saying that because I’m scared of Tank either. 5/5
