Artist History
Divinity, inspired by spiritual energies and demonic influences, describe the world we live in with the introduction of a mythological catharsis in reality. They try to explore new dimensions of black spirituality in their lyrics depicting a story of decay and failure.
Divinity began its musical work in 1998 in the north-eastern part of Quebec called Saguenay. At this time, there was no singer in the band. Patrick Violette (Hadez) offered his vocal contributions and wrote the lyrics for the first demo-album of Divinity called "Gods of Darkness"(1999). Philip Gaudreault (Thanastaz), Michel Nepton (Neffaïst) and Jean-Pascal Belley were the three guitarists of the band on the CD. Martin Tremblay (Eoly) on bass and Alain Duchesne (Garesia) completed the formation. The style of music was a mix of Swedish death and black metal. Since then, Belley left the band and the bass slot was changed two times. Hadez took over the strings on rhythm guitar and Allen Perron (Pandemonik) played bass on the first album "Les Fleurs du Mal" (2003) released on Galy Records. The band evolved towards darker horizons and extreme black/death metal can better describe the style of music Divinity play now. The lyrics are conceptual and poetic, based upon Greek mythology. Recently, Remi Croisetière,(Thorn) joined Divinity to replace Hadez on third guitar. Hadez still handles the vocal duties.
