Artist History Formed in September 2001, by Kris, Jeroen and Koen, Consensus began making music. Their aim was to write good, personal and original music, inspired by bands such as Lacrimosa, Children of Bodom, Therion and Moonspell. The music quickly evolved into its own style. By December 2001, Koenraad joined as the bassist after Maarten (Jeroen's brother) left. The search for a keyboard player lasted a bit longer, with Anouk as the first keyboard player, staying with the band for a month and a half, and Sara as a singer/keyboard player during the same period. They finally found Michaël as a permanent keyboard player during June 2002 With the lineup complete, and after five months of intensive practising through the summer and autumn, the keyboard parts were put to the songs, a demo had been begun, and a violinist, the aptly named Koen, was found to enrich Consensus' sound. For two more months, practice and work on the songs continued. Preparations were made to begin playing gigs, with a set of songs nearing completion. By December 2002, Consensus were ready to play their first gig in the Sjatoo, JH Kalken. The gig was a success, with the band receiving invitations to play at other events. After this gig, a few more songs had been completed and added to Consensus' repertoir. Some quick practices later, and the band was ready to play its second gig at EXiXion, JOC Wetteren. This time it was a contest in which five bands played. With only three songs played due to time restrictions, Consensus managed to win. Consensus is completing the recording of their first demo, called "Larvatus Prodeo".
