Artist description
Her ballads have genuine affection for their blues and folk roots with a straightforward sound that captures current feelings. She can make you laugh one second and cry the next. -John Shelton Ivany, New York Times Syndicate
Amys voice, often compared to the early Joni Mitchell, soars above a music style more like Beth Orton. Her songs have an easy singable quality that leaves fans humming her tunes after just one listen. But what really makes Amys music stand out above the rest is her ability to deliver lyrics that go beyond the usual heartbreak and self-loathing. With lines such as, Id like to look through your eyes at me, and see what I know I could never see, Amy creates an inspiring and enticing performance.
At three years old, Amy told her father that she would be a famous singer and buy a rainforest. She has always been a big dreamer, with a sort of simplistic disregard for the norm. After several years she is still out to fulfill on her childhood aspirations. Amy is inspiring to everyone that witnesses her determination and passion. Her performances alone give people the motivation to pursue whats important to them.
After just two years of songwriting, Amy has already played at several popular spots around the San Francisco Bay Area including Henflings Tavern and the Sleepy John KPIG radio show, both in Santa Cruz, California. Her sound has transformed with the addition of her local Santa Cruz band backing her up, both in live performances and on her debut CD.
Her first full-length album, What We Tell, is a personal account of the mental spaces she has passed through to keep hold of her dreams and passions in the face of lifes circumstances.
