Artist History
Salt of the Earth have been writing and performing their own material throughout the U.K. for the past three years. They have played at various venues including Manchester's Boardwalk and Band on the Wall, Liverpool's Cavern, London's Rock Garden and various universities and national festivals. The band have done live sessions and had their last two singles played on various radio stations including Radio 1; Virgin; Kiss FM; Manchester Piccadilly and BBC Radio Lancashire. In December 1997 Future Publishing's 'Band' magazine launched a search to find the best unsigned band in Britain, in the form of a national 'battle of the bands' competition. Salt of the Earth beat more than one thousand other bands to take the title of 'BEST UNSIGNED BAND IN BRITAIN 1998' at the Grand Final at Wembley. |

Press Reviews
You find yourself humming along ti this debut tune by the foursome. The vocals of Colin Kennaugh sound similar to Neil Finn of Crowded House, and the music can be compared to the melodies of Dodgy. However it would be unfair to constantly measure Salt of the Earth against other bands, especially when they have a unique talent of their own.The lyrics are not the usual soppy stuff that new bands are churning out these days. Instead they are strong words, informing this 'Amazing Individual' not to let people get to him.The melody is very catchy and will have you singing and dancing around your living room. The band could be destined for huge success.ANUJI VARMA |
