Artist History
Randy was influenced by the exciting, musical innovations of the 60's and 70's while growing up in both Washington and California. He began playing music on acoustic guitar at the age of eleven. By the age of seventeen he purchased his first electric guitar and began playing along to pop radio music, eventually collaborating with a variety of Pop, Rock and Bluesgroups. At the age of nineteen, Randy began playing mandolin and banjo and it was at that time that he was first introduced to the harp. However, the primary passion for the instrument had yet to materialize. As a music student at Central Washington University he discovered a passion for the ancient music of the Renaissance Lute. Studying the rich, tradition of the ancient music tabliture, he developed and began performing a varied repertoire of solo lute music. While crossing the Puget Sound by ferryboat, Randy's passion for the harp was rekindled by a chance performance by harpist, David Michael. As an owner of a retail music store, he was finally able to realize his dream of acquiring a harp of his own. As he began to diligently study and practice,he discovered a talent for composition on the harp. Randy has been writing and touring with the harp ever since. |
