Artist description
Lobelia is a musician with many faces. She has written over 300 songs and plays nine instruments. You can find her writing melancholy pop as on her CD "Solitary World" or grinding guitar tunes showcased on her "The Darker Side of Lobelia" album. In any case, the songs are beautiful and unmistakably Lobelia. |

Artist History
As a musician who began writing at the age of 3, Lobelia has had her share of ups and downs in the music business. Going from guitar rock to pop to classical and flemenco, Lobelia's stylish melodies and haunting lyrics have an effect on people. After the breakup of her band by the same name in 1998, Lobelia met and began recording with a producer in the Midwest named James Marlin. Engineered by Dan Kane, her first full length CD was realeased in November to great reviews. She started booking shows across the US and the CD was picked up by several mainstream radio stations. Just as things were going well, Lobelia got sick. She had been battling Grave's Disease for years and it was getting worse. She had surgery on her neck and lost her voice for three months. Every showcase, gig, and appearance had to be cancelled, and the CD never really got off the ground. She is currently working on a new CD called "Black and Blue and Grey All Over" which will be a bit of a departure from the dreamy lulling sound of Solitary World. This one tells tales of all this performer has experienced in the last two years. You won't be dissapointed. |

Press Reviews
Well, "Time Will Tell may be the title of the song, but it is also the fate of the artist. Only time will tell just how big Lobelia will become and how far she'll go. This original song as well as the others on her "Solitary World" debut, is full of heart-felt lyrics and melodies that touch the soul. Better yetm it's refreshing to hear pop that won't give you a toothache. Many enthusiastic thumbs up!!! Heather Keechel, Disney
Creating folkways with her lyrics, the music slides around the story like silk kidd gloves. H.T. Barkman, Author
It makes you want to crawl in bed with the one you love and never leave his/her side. Edwin Camacho, Say What??? Los Angeles Cyberzine
Lobelia's lush, piano-based arrangements and classic Folk-Pop vocals are complimented by dark narrative lyrics. Her musical world rests somewhere between Sarah McLachlan's grandeur and Tori Amos' grand eccentricity. Listen.com |
