Press Reviews
Listen.com Review With liberal use of a Hammond B-3 and the sort of smooth, gravelly vocals associated with the Boss and, by default, Jakob Dylan, comparisons to the Wallflowers are entirely accurate and completely unavoidable. The Color Green deliver easy rock offerings custom-made for Adult Alternative radio: hooks aplenty wrapped in acoustic-based pop with Hammond and tambourine up front in the mix. These guys do it so well, it's hard to believe this is not the Wallflowers. Linda R. ******** Sometimes it takes a teenage riot to get me out of bed, but for those times when I need a touch of melodic beauty, the soundtrack that The Color Green provides is more than adequate. The DMusic Network is pleased to announce that The Color Green has been voted as a "2001 DMusic Grammy Winner" in the Rock category by the DMusic community. Jon Kahn started this band only a few years ago and has developed a large following in the Los Angeles area where he has played The Roxy, The Whisky, The Mint, and The House of Blues. The Color Green's music is not all Jon Kahn, but his songwriting ability has garnered a major thumbs-up from Hollywood with seven of his songs appearing in the feature film "Girl" starring Lolita's Dominique Swain and Powder's Sean Patrick Flanery. Rami Jaffe of The Wallflowers produced the new The Color Green disc, giving it an edgier and more contemporary sound than Jon Kahn's earlier solo acoustic recordings.- Alex alex@dmusic.com ********* Listen.com Review Listen.com's expert editors review the hits! Los Angeles Singer-Songwriter Jon Kahn revels in scratchy tales of whisky and women. He delivers them in a polished format suitable for soundtracks and VH1. |
