Artist History
In eighth grade, Justin Gild led Jake Katz into the world of guitar, and for the next year the two were inseperable, playing lots of guitar and talking a lot about Justin's dream of forming a great rock band. Justin went to Stuyvesant HS and Jake went to La Guardia. At Stuy, Justin befriended a tall skinny kid named Ned Vizzini who happened to play the bass. Meanwhile, at La Guardia, Jake was busting his chops in art classes, doing his guitar thing with Justin on the side, and cultivating a friendship with a wide-eyed drummer named Victor Rendon. It was only a matter of time until Justin and Jake brought everyone together. After working with several different singers, Justin rediscovered an old friend named Jesse Schleger, bon vivant par excellence, who quickly became the band's vocalist. The rest is history, except for the origin of the name HYBRiD, which remains shrouded in mystery. UPDATE: Ned left the band in the fall of 1999 to persue other endeavours, eventually joining the popular NYC outfit the New Mexikans. After playing with a few substitute bassists, "Cheeze" Lou Garuccio was added to the band as a full time member in December of 1999. By mid-2000, though, he was replaced by Brad Appel who stayed until the band receeded from the spotlight. Current plans for any future Hybrid related projects are unclear. |
