Artist description
Disgusted with the state of local music in 1998, three young men formed together with the intent of doing something completely different than any other. A complex wall of sound erupting with a filthy dirty grinding overdrive, complex time changes, and screaming of socio-political awareness and self-realization... simple and straight forward with no masks or costumes, no whining singalongs, no cliched guitar transitions, and no guitar solos sets Dissolute miles apart from today's cramped quarters of nu-metal, emocore, pop punk, rock, and hardcore. Just the metal meltdown of three people who put their entire heart and soul into creating something that no one else has yet to sonically accomplish.
As of late, the musical genre known as "metalcore" is being used to describe lots of mainstream and local artists who are NOT metalcore. However, to avoid confusion, we are no longer describing ourselves as a "metalcore" band. Since there really is no term or genre we fit into (just "metal" is way too generic) we've decided to describe what we AREN'T.
Dissolute is NOT: funk, punk, rock, hard rock, cock rock, frat rock, indie rock, power metal, heavy metal, speed metal, nu metal (ugh!), death metal, rap metal, rapcore, hardcore, metalcore, crossover, emo, grunge, alternative, top 40, top one million, pop, pop punk, rap, r&b, soul, gospel, techno, house, drum and bass, electronic, jungle, movie soundtrack, radio friendly, ska, or elevator music.
I hope that clears up any confusion you may have had about our style.

Press Reviews
From Riffage.com listeners:"This is awesome, very Zaoesque, a lot of Training for Utopia and Deadguy." and: "Oh Yeah!! Brutal is the right word...reminds me of Extol/Zao."___From a review on Pimp Rock Palace (www.pimprock.cjb.net): "Get this cd NOW, and I mean NOW. Dissolute is probably the heaviest band I've heard in the last couple of years... at times sound like some hardcore metal bands like Earth Crisis or Hatebreed, yet keeping it original to their own tribal style. Mike's voice can be compared to... some "Face Of Death" films I saw, when people are yelling at their final minute... really intense and harsh, yet not sounding like those horrible death metal bands. Guitars are insane... drummer Jason impresses by how fast he can beat his kit, a total tribal sound comes from it. Lyrics are extremely conscious... make you stop and think through the whole day about it's theme. Dissolute's agressiveness and intensity is something to be reckoned with, definitely not for the fragile ears.- Pedro Einloft Cd Rating: (4/5) 1=Shit, 2=Okay, 3=Average, 4=Dope, 5=Amazing |
