Artist description
Big Mean Turtle is one of the greatest bands that will never be. Shortly
after recording this album, four of the five members disappeared and were
presumed drowned when their heavily decorated VW Microbus veered off the
highway and sank into a swamp somwhere in Arkansas. The lone survivor can't
remember a thing. Really.
Big Mean Turtle reflects influences of The Beatles, The Byrds, Styx, Lynyrd
Skynyrd, R.E.M, The Replacements, and has been compared to Trip Shakespeare
and The Gin Blossoms. They are one of the all time favorite bands of the
Honorary Polish Consul to England, Mike Oborski.
It's a shame that their full potential will never be known, but here is
your opportunity to enjoy that brief, shining moment (like a turtle on a
log in the sun) when their music was captured forever on plastic.

Artist History
The band formed in the mid Nineties from the remains of several groups that
had been playing around the Fayetteville AR metropolitan area. Kenton
Adler and Steve Katsikas played guitar and keyboards respectively, and were
responsible for songwriting, arranging and production duties, Paul Morstad
provided the very tasteful lead guitar, and the rhythm section consisted of
Tim Carnes and Bill Terry. Their few live performances prior to their
submergence were well received, and now almost legendary. The album was
recorded over a weekend in Steve's basement,
proving EMPHATICALLY that it doesn't take a year
and $100,000 to make a good record.
Tim brought the beer. |
