Artist History
NOISEFALL origins:
Cory Barker, age 24, Guitar/Producer.
Gabe Kubanda, age 25, Lead Vocals, Guitar.
Originally from the suburbs of Seattle, Washington, these two long-time friends traded the dreary weather and monotony of suburbia for sun-drenched Los Angeles in the summer of 2000. They left with only their guitars, the desire to make music and the dream of starting new lives. Those first few months in Los Angeles tested the strength of their will. However, through many hardships, they managed to establish themselves and began attending the Music Business program at UCLA. Through their classes they began networking and each went separate ways musically. Cory began writing and producing hip-hop and R&B songs, while Gabe started a funk/rock group “Love Electric” which played out locally in LA. While working on their individual projects, Cory and Gabe embraced many different musical genres, allowing new sounds to mold them into more than the musical genre to which they were accustomed (growing up in the Grunge capital of the world).
Finally, in early 2003, these two lifelong friends joined forces and went back to their roots to create heavy, melodic hard rock in the vein of: A Perfect Circle, Deftones, Fuel, and Creed. Cory and Gabe’s musical influences also span the likes of: Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, as well as Tupac and Nas. Their combined influences help give them a style that is fresh, unique, and very marketable. While staying dark and edgy their music boasts haunting melodies and a heavy groove.
Lyrically, NOISEFALL is in a whole different category. While positive and optimistic, there also resides a deep-seated distain of the stagnant complacency of society and the crushed hopes of today’s youth. Today’s culture is craving something more than Boy Bands, meaningless lyrics, and shallowness rooted in the media. The writer’s thoughts burn with a passion for change and a call to personal rediscovery on a spiritual level.
Excerpts from Seeing is Believing:
“Seeing is Believing, but don’t trust your eyes…”
“I am not my own, controlled, mindless. Willed by American Dream to buy this, and die”
