Artist description
"It's all in the name." Explains Timshel bassist Geoff Emerson about his band's style. The word 'timshel' is taken from John Steinbeck's classic novel 'East Of Eden' and means 'thou mayest' or 'do as you will.' This describes Timshel's music perfectly, a blend of free-spirited, talent driven mixture of rock, ska, and punk that never fails to reach its mark during every energetic performance. For Timshel, it's not about following the rules of what a band is supposed to be, it's about doing what feels right.
Formed nearly four years ago in the northern Wisconsin town of Spooner, Timshel has grown quite extensively during their time as a working band. They have already recorded a debut EP, which has sold exceptionally well at their many live concerts all year round. In addition, the band continually stretches its horizons, playing an always-eclectic range of songs in concert with bands representing many different genres.
All three members of Timshel are musical prodigies in their own right, classically trained with an expansive range of skills. Geoff Emerson's funk/reggae influenced bass playing provides a bouncy and danceable stability to the band, and his solo parts are an eye-opening reminder of what playing bass guitar is supposed to be about. Guitarist Steve 'the Rave-On' Clayton is undeniably the band's masthead, continually knocking the socks off of every audience he plays for with his classic rock and blues infused solos and inventive riffing that shows off a range of guitar talent in the likes of Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jimmy Page. Drummer Alec Roeser completes this dynamic power trio, providing a driving and thunderous background that shows off his passion and energy for playing.
Hearing Timshel's music is an uplifting reminder that even in the midst of today's watered down, pop heavy music industry, there are still musicians and bands out there that have the talent and the fervor to not only keep real rock and roll music alive, but continually take it to new astounding heights. Timshel is a band for people who appreciate good music; Timshel is a band for people who remember what rock is supposed to be about; but most importantly, Timshel is a band for the people. |
