Artist History
Formed in June 2000 through a chance meeting between vocalist Garin St John, and guitarist Matthew Westbrooke. What started off as a hobby turned Mr Dogg in to one the most kickass ska/punk bands in Leeds today.
Along with bass player Saran Gill (a long time friend of Matthew) and original drummer Sam Marshall, the four started to practise in a tiny bedroom just outside Leeds. Soon the band found themselves playing venues such as Joseph’s Well and The Cockpit, two well known clubs in Leeds Centre.
The band then decided to record and release a home made EP entitled “All in the Reflex’s”, which although was recorded on a four track machine using only two microphones, soon got the attention of a rapidly growing fan base.
The band continued to gig in and around Yorkshire for well over a year, until the band decided to venture into their first studio recording under the watchful eye of ex-Pale Saints guitarist, Jock, who produced the Mr. Dogg “Productive Day?” EP.
Following the release of the 2nd EP “Productive Day?” (which sold well over 500 copies), Mr. Dogg were invited to enter the “Future Sound” battle of the bands tournament, in which they came 5th place, defeating over 300 local bands for the coveted prize of a performance slot at the grand Leeds Carling Festival 2001. Unfortunately drummer Sam Marshall left the band soon after and was replaced by local band “Catalyst” drummer, Steven Wallduck.
After the search for a new "permanent" drummer the band decided to once again, release a new CD. Originally the EP was to sport 4 new songs of the bands ever-progressing style, but due to the way things had been going over the previous month, the track list changed, scrapping 2 songs and slotting in 4 newer ones.
The band recorded the songs for the "Get Out of the Warehouse" EP, in a one day session in September 2002, and mixed it down in another one-day session.
"Get Out of the Warehouse" EP is now available to buy at NooNoo Records. |
