Artist History
An accomplished, classically trained musician and songwriter, Scott Winterton began performing in choral music at the age of six. By the time he was sixteen, Scott had achieved success in the classical music and club scenes alike. He performed alongside select musicians from seven states as part of the All South Honor Orchestra in 1990, and had his first two songs, "Alone" and "Dead Angel" played on the college airwaves in Baton Rouge, Louisiana that same year.
Scott Winterton attended college on a music scholarship for jazz bass, and has been writing and performing in the San Francisco Bay Area for the last twelve years. In 1994, Scott performed as bassist for Something Green, opening for Island Records recording artists Tripping Daisy in promotion of their 1993 release, "Bill."
In 2000 Scott turned his attention from the Bay Area music scene to the Christian music scene, where he performs as a songwriter and worship leader. With a unique acoustic-alternative blend that borrows from his well-rounded musical experience, Scott Winterton features a musically intelligent sound and introspective lyrics that appeal to Christian and secular audiences alike. |
