Artist description Andrea, who has a certain experience in the local death metal underground since 1990 (Brutal Crusade, Death of Roses, Symbolic), had a few songs ready from 1995, when he played with a personal project band, named Algol, then leaving the scenes for the years between 1996-2000. Andrea decides to keep the old monicker for the new band, and the old songs, put aside when old Algol split-up, begin to raise to a new life and vitality: in a few rehersals, some of them are exhumed and revamped (Chaos Embrace, Sleepy Hollow, Dumb And Blind, Oblivion, Through Time And Space). When Manta joins the band, new material is created (The Sigil Of Torment, The Quest, Ras-Al-Ghul, Image Of Pain), and two covers are prepared for live sets: Blinded By Fear (At The Gates) and Silverwing (Arch Enemy). Musically speaking, the songs are tendentially melodic, up-tempo (with a couple of slow exceptions), with a complex but still catchy riff structure and a very particular sound, that can be compared with some swedish-death bands. Influences can be found in bands like Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, At The Gates, Arch Enemy, Dismember, spiced with seldom death metal influences right from the masters (Death, Pestilence, Morbid Angel).

Artist History Algol was born in 2001 when two old metal friends, ANDY and GRAZZ met after some time. Grazz, a.k.a. Manowar, who was singer for Chaos In Art (who played as opening act for the well known italian death band Sadist in 1996). The quest to complete the lineup began, and by the end of 2001 MANTA (Eternal Warfare, Rusty Angel, ex-Tanist) joined the band, being a technical and inspired bass player. MOLLY, who was asked to take the burden of singing, had been in some of the local metal bands already (This Illusion, and others). His powerful and varied voice style is well suited for a band with a vaste death metal background, different influences, whose songs often need contrasts and diversification in vocal parts. The lineup is finally complete with the joining of a second guitarist, FUDO (who is also a drummer, and plays in Insania and Funereal Dusk). With his arrival, the band is thus able to showcase the songs in their original evolved form, having frequent harmonizations between the guitars.
