Artist History
Virgo 4 is a 2 man musical team from Chicago, Illinois USA. Back in the eighties, when we were in high school, we were a part of the whole Chicago house scene, just unknown. Going to Mendel parties and eventhough we were underage, goin' to the Powerplant where Frankie Knuckles was spinnin' and the Music Box where Ron Hardy was spinnin' and anywhere else there was going to be a live party.
Our 1st start was with the infamous Trax Records owned and operated by Larry Sherman. We became a part of the label in about 1988 or 1989 and took on 3 names up to 1991. Our first name was Virgo4 which is what we still use and was taken from previous recordings on trax records by Vince Lawrence and Adonis. Larry Sherman insisted on us using the name and we just went along, but there became some confusion on who did the trax we did because everyone was still thinking Virgo was Vince Lawrence and Adonis. The other names we used were M.E(pronounced me) and Ace & the Sandman. The tracks we were doing we started in high school and we just went down to trax records one day 'cause we heard that Larry would check
new material every now ant then. Well we went in and we ended up doin' a contract even against all we were being told about not to do business with him. Under the name M.E. we did a 12" release named "Winter Days & Summer Nites" featuring Yvonne Gage on vocals. It was a track WGCI(A major Chicago based radio station for hip hop and r&b) was going to put it into regular rotation but some issues arose and it never happened. We plan on re-releasing the original version and also doing a remake of it. Under the names Ace & the Sandman we did a few tracks named "Ain't That Somethin" & "Let Your Body Talk" which we will also put on mp3.com for everybody. We were working with the infamous Ron Hardy to produce a track we did called "It's Hot" that he was playin' at the Box' that he thought was hot! Unfortunately, he passed away during this project. The track was released but it lost somethin' and wasn't that hot afterward, except the original version that Ron was playin' at the box which we plan to make available soon also.We plan on making everything available, the old, the new, the never released, so you gotta keep checkin' us out on mp3.com. We've got so much music to throw at cha' you definitely will have to like somethin'.After 1991 we still made music but separately and now we've decided to get back together, and here we are. |
