Artist History
Undecided is a band that defies all categories. Except one: heavy. Every member of Undecided comes from a slightly different musical source. Marcus sites his influences as Burton Bell of Fear Factory and Phil Anselmo of Pantera. Paul's influences range from Tool to Jimmy Eat World to Chimaira and Killswitch Engage. Jason and Jon seem to be the only two from the same school: Slayer, Soulfly and Sepultura. But as disparate as some of their influences are, Undecided has come together to create some of the heaviest, yet most listenable music in the Arizona scene. With their unintentional combination of the aggression and passion of hardcore with the listener friendly aspects of popular music, Undecided is a band that would seem just as at home on any metalhead's CD player as they would blasting from the headphone's of any emo kid's Discman. Undecided is a band whose music could make you want to kill someone one moment, but could also be used as the soundtrack to fucking your girlfriend.
Marcus's lyrics of betrayal, confusion and mistrust that clash against the ideals of hope and faith blend perfectly with the propulsive and dynamic musical backdrop that the rest of Undecided makes the foundation of their music. With the metalcore thrashfest of teardownthesky, the nü-metal flavored Reborn, the Mudvayne-ish 11th Plague, Undecided blasts through the listener's mind, leaving them with the knowledge that Undecided is not a band to be overlooked. Shows often consist of bleeding band members and moshpits that leave people winded, injured and wondering, what the fuck just happened here?
For any fan of heavy, in-your-face, kill your neighbor, then go fuck your girlfriend metal, Undecided is not a band that you want to miss. |
