Artist description
Jessica DiMond’s voice, highlighted by warm and rich tones, emanates a powerful, yet seductively feminine essence that sweeps the listener off to a
spiritual and romantic musical oasis. It’s a voice of surprising maturity that at 19 years of age can capture the attention of a younger generation
while at the same time managing to appeal to the mature listening audiences as well. Together with her sophisticated songwriting style of modern pop and
dance laced with a unique blend of piano, classical string instruments, and a touch of ethnic influence, Jessica’s music leaves an indelible impression
on the listener that is sure to be remembered.
Born the youngest of nine children, Jessica was raised throughout the American southwest. Her father an architect and working actor, & her mother an established artist encouraged their children from an early age to cultivate their creativity. Growing up Jessica took part in singing, dancing, and acting lessons, participating as often as possible in school talent shows and plays.
At home, when it came to musical preferences, Jessica says, “I listened to everything from Cher to Jon Secada, Beethoven to the Phantom of The Opera Broadway soundtrack. There was a lot of musical diversity growing up.”
At age 13, eager to develop her musicianship a step further via songwriting, Jessica purchased her first musical instrument, an electric keyboard. She recalls, “I already had a passion for singing, but realized I wanted the creative freedom of writing my own music. What better way to express yourself than to write and perform the music that stems from your own life experiences and reflections on love?” Without any formal training on the piano Jessica challenged herself to master the keys and soon thereafter was composing mature musical harmonies along with artistic and compelling lyrics.
What began as a hobby ensued into an obsession, and during the next couple of years Jessica honed her musical skills through daily composition and practice. At 16, Jessica headed to a recording studio for the first time where she recorded 3 songs, including “Ideal World”. Two months later, a mutual friend impressed by the young singer/songwriter’s music and initiative introduced her to a local Salt Lake City radio deejay Nick Fry. It wasn’t long after that Jessica was interviewed on D.J. Nick Fry’s Sunday morning radio show on K.A.L.L. 9.10 a.m. It was during this on-air visit that Fry interviewed Jessica and played her song, “Ideal World”, dubbing her, “The next Fiona Apple or Jewel.”
At age 18, with scholastic commitments behind her, Jessica moved to Los Angeles to solidify her goal of pursuing music on a larger and more professional scale. Soon thereafter she took to the stage, performing live with keyboard at friend’s parties, and local talent shows, including a Santa Monica Pop Singer’s Showcase with 15 other musicians and a 250+ audience.
And it is onstage where Jessica best displays her diversity as not only a musician, but also a captivating performer. Whether she sings alone with the simplicity of a piano, or performs against a background of instruments, Jessica radiates a compelling presence enforced by her sultry vocals, 5’9 willowy frame, enigmatic melodies, and Latin influenced dance moves.
Jessica says, “I believe that whatever you do in life, you’ve got to have passion for it, otherwise the effort is in vain. I know with absolute surety I have found my passion and it is with music. It has made a profound effect on my life and I would like to be part of that inspiring movement by sharing my music with the world. This is what I was meant to come to earth to do.”
