Question: What becomes a melody most? www.mp3.com/anthony_dixon
Answer: The delivery of a melody by the mello-smooth voice of Anthony Dixon.
Anthony Dixon was born in Glendale, Arizona; but grew up in sunny Panama City, Florida, amongst his musically inclined relatives. Exposed constantly to their talents, it was inevitable that he would soon develop a passion for music.
Come with me as we journey back in time to a southern Pentecostal sanctuary. Here we find an unassuming little boy posing a question in song. "What Color Is God's Skin?" This heart-capturing first performance won the favor of many ears in his hometown that day. As he began to perform more frequently, he discovered the magic in his gift. Anthony believes "Music can heal hearts, ease a troubled mind, and bring a joy to a sad spirit. It touches deep emotions; and puts us all a little closer to knowing what heaven must feel like." It was there in that southern church that the foundation for a lifelong devotion to music was laid..
He recorded a music project in celebration of his mother. The project name is "Where Honor Is Due," and is available on the web address: www.mp3.com/anthony_dixon. He has sang backup for Diana Ross, Jennifer Holliday, Cissy Houston, is a member of the Shi-Adayzi Band; and has appeared on the morning show, Good Day Atlanta. He was also a part of the revival of the musical "Purlie" with Melba Moore, Sherman Hemsley, and Robert Giluame. He has sang backup for New Kid's On the Block, and was the winner of the Georgia music Industry Association's Urban competition for songwriters. He has performed at, Ahsford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, Tavern on the Green, the Russian Tea Room, Pier 60, MOMA, Nells, Makors and has written songs for the Barrio Boyzz on the Latin Record Label, Fonovisa.
Recently, he appeared in Atlanta's Alliance Theater's production of the musical "CHESS," directed by the brilliant David Bell. He's also played in "Ain't Misbehavin" twice this year, once with the Theatre Arts Guild of Atlanta and once with the North Carolina Stage Ensemble. Anthony now resides in New York City where he continues to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
Anthony Dixon, singer extraordinaire, has been on this journey for sometime and believes he is closing in on that seemingly mythical crossroads; where a street called desire intersects with a street called opportunity. With his talent and determination that intersection is just around the bend.
