Artist History
Des Moines, Illinois, in 1975 was like Liverpool in 1964. Rock and roll was all the rage, and the kids were NOT all right. Times were tough, and the rock music was even tougher, a reflection of the midwest farmer's common sense mixed with a kind of youthful optimism. Many powerful, progressive "blues rock" bands were common in the Des Moines and Des Plaines areas. Bands like "Heavy Lead" and "The Texas Blues Journeymen" ruled the "scene", as leather-clad youths protested against things like Watergate and powerball. However, all was not well; the "scene" was starting to stagnate. |
