Artist description
------------WHAT IS AARON T ALL ABOUT?------------
Well, it is a given that we live in a time
when artists and listeners find the lack of
substance in music annoying. There is so much
focus on the "bling-bling," and not on whether an
artist can "really sing, rap or play." Aaron T.
does not front. He seeks to share his own
evolution as an artist and a man through his
unique music. It is a sound and concept that
unifies the young, and the young at heart.
It embraces the X and Y generations, and offers
them an alternative soundtrack. It pays homage to
the innovations of the past by studying and
expanding. Listen and witness and participate in,
The evololution of Soul. |

Artist History
He has been compared to Sly Stone because of his
funky old-school keyboard playing, diverse band
and funky vocals, but AARON T. sings from his own
heart. “They say there is nothing new under the
sun, he says with a smile, but I am reaching
inside myself with every song to bring out
something truly original. This musician,
singer/songwriter captivates audiences with a
powerful new sound, which he calls "Nu-Hippie."
This is a sound that has been receiving a geat
deal of interest lately for its unique yet
familiar flavor and its innovativeness.
AARON T.'s sound combines a soulful delivery
of funk, which is well grounded in the tradition
of the 70's, yet informed by Hip/Hop, modern R&B,
and Rock. All of this is juxtaposed against the
backdrop of his spiritual sensibility which
speaks of a freedom that transcends musical
genere. "I realized early on," he says,
"that even though I was born inot the Hip/Hop
generation, as a musician, I'm not constricted
to it. I am also informed by the soul, funk
and rock of the generation(s) that came before
me." Like his contemporaries, D'Angelo, Maxwell
and Eric Benet, AARON T. focuses on the music
and his ability to really play his instruments,
and sing well both live and in the studio.
(Aaron T. is an accomplished vocalist,
keyboardist, and percussionist, who also
plays guitiar, and drums.) What separates
him from the competition however, is that
he has a lyrical consistency that is missing
in Funk and R&B music in the 90's. Add to this
an already extensive catalogue of AARON T.
penned songs, and you have an artist who has
not only arrived, he is here to stay. "I don't
write about things I don't feel," he says simply,
and how he feels is expressed in how he lives.
Take for example the fact that T. has been
tutoring underprivileged youth since high school.
Early in 1999, he founded an organization called
the Wisdom Project that focuses on youth
education, particularly eliminating the hate
and misunderstanding that leads to violence
and racial tension. He has been a performer,
(often the only unsigned artist), at high
profile benefits such as the Dionne Warwick
sponsored, "Let Them Know We Care Project"
a song and music video featuring many talented
artists like Melba Moore, Shanice, Jermaine
Jackson, and Martika, and the 101 Foundation
Benefit Concert, which featured Earth Wind and
Fire, the Emotions and others. "This is just my
outlook on life, I don't spend time with kids
because it's trendy, I do it because it is
necessary. They need me, and I need the
spiritual growth that helping someone else
gives me." AARON T. considers this an extension
of the activism of the 60's and 70's. An era he
says, "when a fan could listen to a record from
beginning to end without lifting the needle."
It was a time when artist weren't so constricted
by the "bling-bling," and rigid formulas and
formats. They were unafraid to put positivity
and hope in to the universe through music. "I
want to bring that back by fusing the sounds of
Hip/Hop together with the energy of 70's style
fund and soul. And while the music is going to
be hip/hop flavored, its going to speak lyrically
as well." AARON T. lives his life through his
songs, and once your hear his recordings and
see him on stage, you can tell he is a new
artist who is not afraid to take risks.
A native of Queens New York Hatch had a
natural affinity for music. He began
tinkering with the piano at the age of three,
and by age six, he was accompanying the chior
during Sunday morning service in his father's
church. He got his first professional job in
the mid eighties while still in high school.
Bobby Taylor former Motown Records recording
artist/songwriter) began producing local acts.
Taylor had heard of this young keyboard player
who he thought sang like Stevie Wonder, and
took him into the recording studio. With the
positive reception of his performance, he
decided to pursue a music career. Shortly
after finishing high school in Columbus Ohio,
AARON T. moved to Southern California where he
joined up with friend, singer/songwriter/producer
Chuckii Booker. "I sang background vocals and
played keyboards with Chuckii, as well as some
session work." This was the period in time
where T.'s playing skills were honed.
"We knew Chuckii's godfather Barry (White)
was watching the rehearsals. We not only
wanted to play well; we challanged each
other to be the best." AARON T. continued
his work as a session musician/songwriter/producer
working with a number of established artists
such as Chaka Khan, and Vesta Williams He also
began earning writing and production credits
working on projects for a number of unsigned
artists such as Tracy Whitney, and Paris
Escovedo (Shelia E's cousin). It was these
skills and a "shy effervescence," says Kim
Davis, a Hollywood casting agent, "that
convinced us to hire him as the principal
actor in "World Dance," the national
Coca-Cola commercial directed by Cleo Award
winner Bruce Dowad. Armed with his impressive
resume, Aaron began forming the concept for
his band The Movement, and solo release,
"Welcome to the Birth of a Nu-Movement."
AARON T. can stretch the boundaries of
traditional R&B music to the limit with
a sizzling synthesizer bass-line, juxtapose
that against a screaming rock guitar solo,
and then reel you back in with a melodic pop
ballad. Funk, soul or rock and roll, in his
hands, it all becomes "Nu-Hippie." But it's
the sound and the soul of the music that
matters, not the labels attached. When
AARON T. pours his soul out in song,
people listen. "I just sing from the
soul, he says, and that's how I stay
real." And anyone who has heard his
passionate delivery would agree. He
is an explosion of high energy and
emotion packaged in music. Remember
his name-you won't ever forget his
voice. Discography Keyboardist/Background
