New talent, Kiskadee is hitting the British R&B scene with her West Indian fusion.
The vocally strong singer/songwriter is soon to release her debut single, Here Forever, produced by Andy Whitmore and taken from her forthcoming album of the same title.
When here Forever was first aired on London’s LBC Radio, the talent team were gobsmacked.
“Absolutely fantastic… Stunning, Stunning stuff..” (Anthony Blackburn of Blackburn Sacks Agency).
“Wow!” LBC Presenter, Dr Pam.
Kiskadee was born in Minster on the Isle of Sheppey. She grew up in a rough white neighbourhood and was part of only a tiny West Indian minority on the island.
From early on, the family of five created ripples with their music. It was not unusual for Kiskadee herself to be featured in the local press even as a young child, grabbing headlines such as:
“Young Singer Reveals Amazing Versatility”
Kiskadee’s father from Trinidad was a steel drum maker and her mother from Guyana was an accomplished violinist. The family formed the Rainbow Steel Band with a neighbour and her daughter and the band played for several years throughout the UK, in France and Switzerland.
During her teens Kiskadee began to further develop her songwriting skills. Some of her early work was featured in a stage production of Dick Wittington at the Royal National College, Hereford.
She toured Romania as part of a World Music group just after the revolution, she formed a successful steel band duo with her husband which has performed widely over the last four years, and she’s produced songs for other artists. Now Kiskadee is embarking on her solo career.
“There’s so much music around that’s either bland or annhialistic.” Says Kiskadee.
“I don’t do bland and I don’t do annhialistic! I’m a real Trini at heart. If you’ve ever heard Trinidadian calypsos you’ll know that they talk about real issues but they’re positive and they make you laugh and sometimes cry.”
Kiskadee is currently unsigned and is also seeking management and publishing.
