Artist description
Parotia is an original rock fusion band from Rochester, New York, bringing a unique sound that combines influences from many styles, particularly rock, jazz, and reggae. Their eclectic sound encompasses everything from mellow, groovy riffs and introspective lyrics to driving, distorted guitar solos and powerful percussion.
The band features James Henderson on bass, Kevin Plane on guitar, and Mike Roque on drums. Their recently released demo CD includes three original songs: Soundhead, Oil Spills, and Stand On End. Soundhead is a catchy tune with a guitar line you'll never forget. The song, which is about those songs you hear that you just can't get out of your head, was written by and features Kevin on vocals with James on backup. Oil Spills, a song about hallucinating, features James' funky slap bass technique and showcases his profound lyrical style. The demo concludes with Stand On End, a straight-ahead rock tune that will get everyone moving and features Kevin on vocals.
In addition to their many originals, some of Parotia's covers include "Smoke Two Joints" as performed by Sublime, "Down on the Corner" by Credence Clearwater Revival, "Shoe Salesman" by Alica Cooper, and "Aqualung" by Jethro Tull.
The band is currently playing regularly in the Rochester area and in the process of releasing their first full-length album. |
