Artist description FORMER TEENAGE IDOLS: ADVENTURES INTO THE OUTER REGIONS... Many try to explain a band by comparing them to their influences and other bands in the new music scene. Hailing from Chicago, Former Teenage Idols makes their way through the world of sounds by exploring every horizon, from ambient, earthy guitar tones to, wall-breaking energetic rock riffs. FTI has been together since the fall of 2001 and has already recorded 2 EP'S and 1 full length album. They were featured on the compilation disk, "Rock Chicago", comprised by Mark "Allen" Pauga, in 2002. The band is one of the most respected "Space Rock" bands in Chicago. From the muted and sludgy guitar melody in "You're so Good At Being Wrong" to the icy sharp trip thru "The Very Few", this band has definitely created a sound that claims its own space the music scene. FTI consists of 4 members: Nick Vocals/Rhythm Guitar, Sean Lead/Noise Guitar, Charlie Drums, and Christian on Bass. All the members of FTI have been involved in the Chicago music scene 1996. Nick, coming from the band Brainwashed, which was later to become First Left, was an intricate part of the band laying down the vast majority of the songs and backing vocals. Now in FTI, Nick has brought the same enthusiasm for song writing and singing taking the reins and stepping up to the mic as the Lead Vocalist, a well-suited move. His vocal style shapes the band with out a doubt.. Sean has played with many bands in the Chicago area, but is best known for his involvement with the Phoenix, Arizona based Torso. Torso, exploring more of an industrial sound, eventually left Sean longing for more. With FTI Sean has turned up the intensity, adding mood altering guitar sounds, and amplifying the live to show to new heights. Charlie has been in quite a few projects throughout the Chicago area, jamming with members of the now defunct Mary's Window and his prior band, All Else Fails. All Else Fails, a Novocain recording artist, toured extensively in the U.S. Christian has taken responsibility of the lower end for FTI. Slipping into the roll like Cinderella putting on a glass slipper, Christian was tailor made for this role and has helped form the sound that they like to call Space Rock. All of the band members are of legal age. With many shows under their belts, FTI has befriended many other bands and can bring both headlining and opening acts if need be. FTI has played venues from Illinois to Tennessee and has no problem traveling. The band is looking to further its crowd base by playing more out of state shows and meeting new bands. With collective members of such different styles and experience, this band is a must hear, and definitely a must see.
