Press Reviews
This Nashville-based radio-ready rock band brings to mind a more rocking version of Toad the Wet Sprocket, a less jammy Vertical Horizon, or even the poppier side of Pearl Jam. There's a saying in the music business that there is such a thing as a "hit" voice. It's an indefinable quality that has nothing to do with American Idol vocal acrobatics or Berklee-trained prowess. It's an instantly accessible sound that rests on your ears in a familiar and welcome way. 9 Point Landing's Adam Crossley has that kind of voice...Let's hope the next place 9 Point Landing finds their music is on the radio, where their songs belong, alongside likeminded bands Five For Fighting and Train.****From The Rage

Nashville is a town that is so saturated with music, it’s not always easy for a band to stand out or get noticed. But local band 9 Point Landing is a band that seems to have what it takes. Even at just the first listen, I noticed the diversity on this album.
The first song “Shadows” gave me the impression that this was going to be a more mellow, laid back album, kind of in the likes of Coldplay or the Doves, with jangly guitars & simple yet soulful melodies. But they proved me wrong, taking a turn from mellow to high energy feel good pop on “Cinderella.” Moving along, they mellow it out a little bit more again with “Cheap Red Wine,” which has a vibe & a B3 Hammond organ that reminded at times of the Wallflowers. Just when I thought that maybe I had their sound figured out, they surprised me once again with “Dog Boy,” my favorite song on the album. The verses are a little dark & moody, but brought to life by an amazing vocal hook in the chorus that only made my ears crave more. And to top it off, the bridge hooks it all together with even more great vocals. This song could definitely stay stuck in your head for days, if you let it. After listening to track 7, “Soles Bouncin’,” I was convinced that someone in this band was influenced by The Police because of the vocal and driving bass line combination in the chorus. The song that caught me by surprise though, was “Scream,” which almost sounds like it doesn’t belong in this family of songs. It’s yet another sign of how diverse this band can be – this song feels very dark, yet very sensual.
Each song seems to exist in its own world, but the album is tightly knit together with strong vocals, solid drumming & bass lines that never get too busy. With as much variety as there is on this recording, 9 Point Landing have definitely proven that they can cover several musical bases. Everyone needs to check these guys out.
