Artist History
Founded during the summer of 1998 by Sam Grossman, John Dydo and Chris Maher (recess, ex-Out of Whack), Shamus McNasty went a long time without playing a show, having a bassist or even a permanent name. After sorting through a handful possible candidates, the band chose Marissa Arciola to be their permanent bass player. The group played numerous shows under such names as Stempire 8, Ricercar and Uncle Weasel before deciding to stick with Shamus McNasty. In June of 1999, Shamus recorded its still unreleased 8 song EP/record, 'A Million Ducks'. UPDATE: With all four McNastes scattered around the North East (and Ohio) thanks to college, shows and practices are rare occurances. Still, in the summer of 2001, Sam, John and Chris spent time in John's Yonkers basement banging out new tunes. Rough takes from those 'Basement Tapes' may appear on this page soon. Stay tuned! |

Press Reviews
"This is not a man with a vile name, but rather an exuberantly noisy Indie Rock band from New York City. Shamus McNasty flirt with tango rhythms, faux Alt Country twangers with marching drums, and joyously raucous rockers full of blissful pop melodies." - Will Lerner, Listen.com |
