Artist History recess was formed in mid-1998 by ex-Out of Whack alums Luke Venezia (Vocals/Guitar) and Sam Morgan (Drums) with bassist Steve Durnin (ex-Museum) and guitarist Ryan McLaughlin. Before playing live, Steve was replaced by bassist Will Doyle-Capitman and, after only a few gigs, Ryan left the group. As a three-piece, recess recorded their first six-song demo/EP "Fell By The Wayside". Soon after, in the Spring of 99, to beef up the band's live show, ex-OOW singer/guitarist Chris Maher (also of Shamus McNasty) was added to the fold as the new second guitarist. During the summer of 1999, Will left the group and a suitable replacement has yet to be found. UPDATE: While Luke, Sam and Chris remain good friends, the future of recess is not clear. All three members are currently exploring new projects while recess is put on indefinite hiatus.
