Artist History
Orangabelle 5 began in early 1999, when Julie Johnson interviewed fornever, the solo project of Joshua Heinrich, for her gothic e-zine. Josh and Julie grew to be friends over the next several months. Eventually, Julie showed Josh a collection of lyrics she had written with dreams of being in a band. A fan of Josh's music, she asked Josh to write the music to her words, and Orangabelle 5 was born. Plans for a full length album were put on hold due to difficulties with the geographical distance between Heinrich and Johnson, but despite the problems, a 6 song EP titled "Slipping from Reality" was completed for release in October 1999. Very shortly after, work began on a full length album, "fade", which was finally completed and released in August 2000. "fade" featured a new goth rock sound that was quite different from the experimental industrial/darkwave material found on "Slipping from Reality". Orangabelle 5 returned in October 2000 with a remix EP titled "reconstructed" that contained remixes of tracks from both "Slipping from Reality" and "fade" as well as one unreleased track from the fade sessions. |
