Press Reviews
Pop Metal hybrid features '80s inspired music, searing guitar solos, and soaring,arena-aspiring vocals. GHERNA GANG is a band out of Illinois,USA and features the brothers Dan(Bass, Guitar, LeadVocals), Doug(Drums) and Johnny(Guitars)Gherna of which Johnny used to play in the Classic AOR/Pomprock band Rathskeller. Musically the GHERNA GANG is not that far away from those AOR legends who came out of the same area. “Fine Line” is a fantastic classic early 80's sounding uptempo AOR/pomprocker. “Temporary Slump” is a slightly poppier but still a good midtempo melodic poprocker that moves very much into the 80's sound. “Karen” is a catchy new wave sounding uptempo melodic poprocker. “What’s In It For Me” is another true poprocker, and “Don’t open up that wound” is a weird quirky poprocker like Donnie Iris and Moon Martin. And a song called “Loo Doo”, a simple party poprocker that sounds like Rick Springfield meets Cheap Trick with a Poison guitar sound. If you like the early 80's melodic poprock experience, then you should go for the GHERNA GANG. This band really captures the classic early 80's melodic poprock sound which was so popular in the USA then, and perhaps always will be. |
