    Artist History
From the bands conception by frontman Dan Villanueva in 1995, to it's 1998 debut release on Planting Seeds Records, as well as it's 1999 CMJ music conference appearance, it's 7 inch release of "Light Years Away/Agatha" on Asian Man Records, and it's 2nd full length indie release, "Eclipsing Binary Star" - The Astropop 3 continues to consistently create new and refreshing, yet seemingly timeless pop songs. Drawing upon both modern indie noise and retro pop influences, the band successfully combines both the indie stylings of these two different genres in a familiar yet refreshing fashion-- With it's male and female vocals, and it's catchy melodic straight forward, four to the floor, arrangements, to it's delightful simple charming guitar riffs, and let's not forget the hooks. The Astropop 3 continues to showcase Villanueva's natural songwriting pop sensibility.

Title: Astropop 3 Eclipsing Binary Star (Shredding Paper Magazine review) Publication: Shredding Paper Magazine Date: october 2001 Link: http://www.shreddingradio.com/reviews11.html Astropop 3 - "Eclipsing Binary Star" CD 12/36:52 A3 are inventive with their catchy '60s style melodies, but their vocals are sooo distinctive. Both Dan Villanueva and Angelique Everett have voices that are special and memorable, and really separate them from the indiepop pack. This ain't hi-fi; I don't know what they're playing as drums, and the guitar is frequently reduced to a distorted haze. It's inept but it works. Strong songwriting influenced by '60s psych-pop makes for indiepop from a fresh perspective. Excellent. @ Planting Seeds, PO Box 64665, Virginia Beach, VA 23467
