Artist History
Headed up by Sandy Horne, who is well known on the Canadian music scene through her work with the Spoons. After 20 years in the music industry and many memorable hits through the 80's, Amaris offers something new for the millenium.
Amaris is independant, self produced and engineered in a home studio. It all started when Sandy and her friend Noella started writing songs together in the kitchen. They really wanted an orchestra to back them up, but settled for a Cello.
This is where Katharin enters the scene. The haunting sounds of her cello are heard prominently throughout the CD. After attempting to do demos in several studios, the decision was made to self produce it at home. With their first 3 song demo, they landed a showcase in the 1999 North by Northeast Festival in Toronto. Production of the full CD went into high gear, and was finished just in time for the festival.
Janine and Noel joined in to take the show on the road and Amaris has since performed at many festivals, benifits, and even on several live television shows. The interest and fan base is growing, but traditional radio is mostly ignoring new indie acts. That's why you have to ignore traditional radio and get online.
Amaris is writing new material and working on setting up a more permanant full production Audio and Video studio. All computer and internet based of course. Stay tuned. |
