Artist description
The goal of the U.N.I.T., formed in September of ’02, can be described as an effort to fuse jazz, hip-hop, soul, funk, & rock. This groove driven sextet’s roots lie within smooth sounds, “in-your-face” horns, and dirty licks that blend together to create a vibrant array of musical eargasms. This unique style of music was brought into existence for the sole purpose of creating a diverse and intense sound that can appeal to an eclectic audience. “When crowds come to see us, I want them to be entertained. I want them to be having a good time, cause I’ve been having a good time.” – Aaron Graversen, front man of The U.N.I.T. Built fiercely upon crowd interaction, the U.N.I.T.’s live shows vary with each crowd, not only visually, but musically. The U.N.I.T. describes their band as constantly evolving although their foundations lie deeply amongst a variety of influences including, but not limited to, The Roots, Dave Matthews Band, Soulive, and Karl Denson. The U.N.I.T. relies on strong musicianship but draws their inspiration to spread their music to the masses from the rush of entertaining an animated crowd. Hailing from Manhattan Kansas this energetic and youthful group is coming at you on a musical crusade to bring their own brand of verbal mischief to a speaker near you. |
