Artist description
What does that name mean?
For those that don't know, the name "Mondoshawan"
comes from the Luc Besson film The Fifth Element.
The Mondoshawan are a race of somewhat clumsy, but benign mechanical aliens,
devoted to saving the earth and the entire universe.
It seemed to be a perfect name for a band whose
attitude to music would be to use its power to
generate light and hope, a million miles
away from the "attitude" of the nu-metal clones.
So what's the music like?
The best thing to do is listen and judge for
yourself, but if you want a few pointers,
comparisons have been made to Brian Wilson,
Stereolab, The Pale Saints, Love, Tim Buckley
and New Order. We ain't nothing if we ain't
eclectic! We love guitars, from a heavy slice
of overdrive to 12-string jangle, from surfin'
baritone to throbbing jazz bass,
but we love electronica too.
It has to be old though with bits falling off
it, monosynths, theremins and dying electric
pianos and organs.
Chris's songwriting cup overfloweth with hooks
and tunes. The vocals carry a heartfelt message
of hope...

Artist History
How did they come to be?
The years advancing, tired of gigging, hair thinning,
Chris Green retreated to the studio to invent The Mondoshawan,
a band who simultaneously do and do not exist.
They exist on CD or here in virtual space, but Chris denies any plans to realise their sound on stage.
