Artist History
In October of 2002, Blurring The Lines fatefully got together with a mutual respect and admiration for each other's talents, as well as a desire to create a widely influenced, unique and heavy sound. The common bond they all share is as strong as the rock from which they carve their fierce yet melodic compositions. The band reincarnated from Slumber, a previous band in which Rudy Marquez (vocals), Robert Marquez (bass), and Ray Gay (drums) played in. Due to a number of personal issues Rudy was facing at the time, the band decided to take a break. During the long break everyone went their separate ways and Slumber fell apart. After two years of silence, Rudy and Robert teamed up again and decided they wanted to another stab at making music. Carlos Flores (guitar), a long time high school friend of the brothers, was the asked to join. And after months of writing music without a drummer, Ray showed up at Rudy's doorstep to discuss working together again. After being together for only three months, the band decided to record their first EP at Fish Hook Records. Although never formally relased, many poeple have downloaded it from various internet sites, and is now circulating and creating new fans everyday. What sets Blurring The Lines apart from other bands in their genre is that their songs are reality based, extremely melodic, and memorable. In each song, Rudy carries the listener through a heart felt story of love, trust, betrayal, or sorrow that people can not only relate to, but truly feel. His melodies are infectious, and have no boundaries of range. As the band constantly strives to push the limits of heavy melodic music, they pour their hearts without reserve into their melodic and aggressive compositions. It is for this reason that the bands live performances fail to disappoint. Currently, the band is preparing to record a new full length record in the next couple of months with Fish Hook Records. The record will feature the band's latest material as well as re-recorded versions of the songs previously released on their five song EP. Their forthcoming release and upcoming performances will cement their reputation as one of El Paso's premier emocore experiences. Embrace yourselves.
