Artist History After accepting Jesus as her Savior, Phyllis immediately recognized and answered the call to minister in song and to lead God’s people into a closer, more fulfilling fellowship with Him. Phyllis began fulfilling her singing destiny in church. As a teen, she began playing the piano and directing choirs for various churches. During her college years, and in collaboration with five other college friends, Phyllis helped to found “Restored”, a contemporary gospel ensemble that blessed university events as well as surrounding community ministries. She participated in many other community based choirs and churches until her graduation. For years, Phyllis’ anointed voice and masterful ability to lead others in joyful worship have made her a popular ministry guest in many churches throughout the southeastern United States. Apart from her solo ministry, she has had the privilege of singing with a number of Gospel groups: The Gospel Crusaders (Bainbridge, GA); Restored Ensemble (Statesboro, GA); Chief Singers (Durham, NC); and Joy Ensemble (Durham, NC). Most recently, Phyllis served faithfully as the Praise and Worship coordinator for the Mt. Hermon Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia before relocating with her husband, Larry, and their three children to Durham, North Carolina. Phyllis serves as the Director of Music Ministries for her church, Beacon Light Missionary Baptist Church, in Durham, North Carolina. Upon the unction of the Holy Spirit, Phyllis, who is currently a teacher in North Carolina, was moved to share the love she has for Christ through the medium of a cd recording. She began writing seriously, and enlisting the help of other gifted musicians and producers. Phyllis has completed a dynamic CD that is sure to take the world by storm. Her independent debut album, “He’s the King”, released on December 7, 2002, has blessed numerous people and is receiving rave reviews. She exclaims, “My prayer is that all would experience and know the beauty...the joy...the peace...the blessed assurance that only Christ can give. My sincere desire is to have a heart and mind like Christ; so, I have surrendered my life to be used of God. I believe that God is calling His people to a higher place of praise, and I have accepted the call to help lead them there”.
