Artist History
The story of the Beechles...It all began in the early 60's when four young galoots from Liverport, New England had absolutely nothing to do. Their names were Dung, Cecil, Ima and Palm, and, like I said, they were pretty much were your run-of-the-mill galoots. So they decided to form a rock and roll band...hell, they had nothing else to do. None of them could play an instrument, and don't even get me started on their horrid singing, but they persisted and they eventually got good enough to entertain Liverport's plethora of stray cats. It's around this time when they realized they should first come up with a name for their band. They thought about their loves, and the beach and brussel sprouts seemed to be the only common interests among all of them. So they decided to call their new group the Beachle Sprouts, but no one in the band could spell that well either, so they became the Beechle Sprouts. They started playing gigs at Senior Centers and 24-hour Laundromats, when they got noticed by Shmeke Kilster. Shmeke had just started his own record label recording Yiddish acts, and figuring these guys were Yiddish because they were so hard to understand, he figured these guys would be just as good as any of the other shmucks he's signed. So he asked them to come up with an original number, and he would see if it's worth losing his hearing over. So after six months of twiddling their toes and eating lumpy gravy, they came up with "Heart Sensation". Shmeke loved it, and he started pitching it around to different radio stations. It was also around this time the Yiddish Invasion was just starting to take off, led by the likes of Shlo Mo and the Meshuginas, the High Shleppers, and Flameel the Shlemeil. Shmeke knew he had to get the Sprouts out there with them, but they were going to have to change their name. So he had them drop the Sprouts, and thus they would be forever know simply as the Beechles. "Heart Sensation" quickly rose to the bottom of the charts, taking over such classics as the Meshuginas "Oi Vey, My Uncle Is A Gay", and "Shleppin' Out With My Dreidel" by the High Shleppers. Then the band made a startling discovery...none of them were Yiddish. Realizing Shmeke had been fooling them all this time, they decided to leave the Shmekster for bigger and greener pastures. That's where they found Col. Zeke Cowlick, who operated his label right out of his farm. They haven't been heard from since. |
