Artist description
Southern Iridescent:Noise Exposure (SI:NE) started late in 2002 by members of Trapezoidal Wave, Seascape and Silent Prayer. It all started with all being enthralled by the music of Explosions in the Sky and their live videos that was passed on among ourselves. Plus the fact that we were into a lot of bands in the similiar veins such as Flying Saucer Attack, Sigur Ros, Landing, Slowdive, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Bethany Curve, Sianspheric and many more. This made it easier for us to communicate as a band in terms of sound and music arrangements. The initial structure of the band was Edwin, WeeLee, Andrew on guitars and Adrian on drums. However, being used to the sound of bass in a band context, Adrian was quickly reverted back to twiddling the big fat strings and Woei Yang then joined as drummer. With this line-up, two songs were sketched and given the name Ganymede and Calisto, inspired by the moons of Jupiter. Unfortunately, Woei Yang decided to take his leave to attend to some pressing issues and this left the band scampering for a new drummer. The void was then perfectly filled by Obey (Crestfallen), WeeLee's old schoolmate, who was available at that time and was in agreement with the musical directions we are heading. The rest, they say, is history. (5th May 2003) |
