Artist History Spearing Jocasta is a band of many faces, feelings, and pasts, Spearing Jocasta have much more to offer than the average Metalcore band. Technical melodious guitar riffs combined with brutally fierce yet grooving drum beats, create a sound yet explored in this genre. After this sound is blended with a range of vocals from fiery aggressive screams to the deepest of growls, and at times crystal clear singing, you are not sure whether to dance or sing along to Spearing Jocasta, but will find yourself doing both. During the summer of 2001 Steve (guitar) and Ryan (drums) had just finished performing with Clubber Lang. Scott (bass) and Eric (guitar) were looking to play again after Another Nothingšs demise (Chord recording artists). These four members decided to take control of what they had been throwing around in their heads, and get things going. Kevin (vocals) was the gem waiting to be found playing guitar for Industrial Fate (hiding his vocal talents). These five people have now come together out of the Trenton, NJ area to make Spearing Jocasta what it is.In November 2001, Spearing Jocasta personally funded and released a 5-song EP titled "Lessons in Natural Selection." By Mid-December they were opening, at their third show, for Converge and Lamb of God at Club Krome in NJ. While only being self funded, promoted, and managed, the band has been playing gigs on a near weekly basis. A recent show at the Birch Hill in Old Bridge, NJ, Spearing Jocasta sold over 100 tickets and drew even more people at the door. Spearing Jocasta are willing to play opening slots, while receiving little or no money, at clubs, halls, or basements, in order to continue to create the buzz being heard throughout the scene. The band members will continue to book as many shows as possible while promoting these shows on message boards as well as with flyers at shows, in independent and chain record stores, lifestyle shops, skateshops, and anywhere else they feel might be appropriate for the show they are playing.
