Artist description
Sakinah Nabi is part of a new generation of female MCs that are beyond the stereotypes of women as sex symbols. But neither is she a bone-dry intellectual. Coming up from the slums of South Jamaica, Queens, Sakinah has learned to see things for what they are and not for what they seem to be. In her lyrics, she mixes street talk with a conscious influence, Islamic messages with rap bravado. For her debut single, producer Phil Rust created beats involving sounds of water and earth (the female elements). |
