    Artist History
Mean, heavy, menacing, articulate! These are some words used to describe Houston's own rottenseed. A band which takes structure and bends it into a crushing rhythmic euphoria. rottenseed maintains head bobbing vibe while at the same time inducing flashes of "must kill" hypnosis throughout the listeners brain. The group possesses the essence of heavy music including power and energy and takes them to a new level thus creating a new breed of metal to be experienced.   rottenseed is a machine which ingests it's influences and spits them back out with an even more ferocious combination of brutality and originality while maintaining their sense of tastefulness and eye catching musicianship. Formed in late 1999, the band began as a jam session between John "Hate" Ramos (guitar) and Kelley Wright (drums) before slowly evolving into its first form. The first full line-up came into motion with the additions of James Reynosa (vocals) and Trey Ainsworth (bass). With chemistry starting to blend and progress, the year 2000 was halfway finished and this was followed by the departure of James. Writing still commenced and Trey's transition to 2nd guitarist set room for Chaleco to fill the bass slot. After a few months of searching for a new vocalist, 2001 rolled in and the front man duties were handed to Rick Ramon.  Armed with an acceptable set list, the band made it's first debut in Corpus Christi, TX under the name Worker Revolt Party opening for Houston's Condemned at the club Zero's. With good response at hand the band moved forward to play a couple more shows before the announcement of Trey's departure. With Trey gone the group remained a four piece and changed their name to Blue Tarp and landed an opening spot for Diecast and Catastrophic at the club Fitzgerald's in Houston, TX. After playing several shows between July and September of 2001 the band took a small break and shortly after decided to write new material. As 2001 was drawing to an end, so were the vocal duties of Rick Ramon (who left due to relocation). In March of 2002, Zen was recruited as vocalist and the group underwent one more name change to rottenseed. Extensive rehearsals began and new lyrical ideas were put in by Zen to make the band's overall sound more powerful than it's ever been. After the set list had grown in size and maturity rottenseed's debut was at club Cardi's in mid October 2002. The band has gone onto play countless shows throughout Houston and has been received well by audiences and those curious sorts. The recent line up consists of Zen - vocals, Kelley Wright - drums, John "Hate" Ramos - guitar, Chaleco - bass. From line up changes to a secure unit and a force to be reckoned with, rottenseed plans on moving ahead and expanding it's following throughout the music scene and people can expect to hear more about rottenseed in the future.
