Artist History
John Burlock started his life as a musician when he was six, when his parents bought him his first "Junior" drum set. He started taking drum and percussion lessons at age 8. He continued these lessons for 8 years. In middle school he joined the school band and also start his own alternative rock band. It was when the guitarist of this band, Ashok Surapaneni, started leaving his Ibanez electric guitar at John's house when he started learning simple chord progressions. He downloaded guitar tablature for all of his Dave Matthews songs, and he eventually learned every single Dave Matthews tune and decided that songwriting and performing was his calling. Along with being a Maine All-State Percussionist and the drummer for the champion Maine State Jazz festival, he started his own band, Wiley Greene, in which he played guitar and wrote the songs. He eventually lost his position as leader singer when it was decided he needed to figure out HOW to sing first. After a couple of years of daily practicing, John found the confidence to perform as a solo singer/songwriter his first year in college at Tufts University. His music has continued to grow in popularity in the Boston area since then, and has a long future in music in front of him. |
