Artist History
Formed early 2002 from the ashes of other London bands daybrake have
quickly cemented themselves in the live circuit. Their melodic guitar
tunes have seen them pack in audiences across London's venues, from Dublin
Castle, the Water Rats and on to Camden Underworld amongst the many
gigs.
At the end of 2001, having received rave reviews but exhausted the live
scene for two years, Joe and Roddy called it a day on their band, in
search of a new project to get them interested in playing again. "I felt
pretty disenchanted and drained about the whole music scene," remembers
Joe. Phil was an old friend of Roddys who many years prior had been in
a school band with him. After one short audition it was obvious they
had their drummer. "Not just a four click drummer anymore, this guy could
rock," enthuses Roddy. Tom had been gigging hard in Hong Kong for
years, and on his return to England was on the look out for a new band. His
brother knew Joe for over a decade and once they had met up to talk
ideas it was clear they shared the same goals and musical direction, and
with the bassist now recruited daybrake was formed.
Hauled up in a rehearsal room for months they quickly polished off
countless songs, which they discribed as an honest process. "If it's forced
it's wrong," laments Tom. One minute they rock and the next they send a
shiver down your spine, daybrake must be seen. With one demo made and
many gigs upcoming daybrake are destined for big things. Catch them now.
