Artist description
Tokn' J (aka J.T. Johnson) is a new breed of alterna-hop
folk hipster just waiting to explode.
Think of a mix between Wille Nelson and Dr. Dre
you might be getting close. Part acoustic balladeer
part hip hop scientist, part groove rock social mover,
but all in all a whole lotta conscious threads
intertwining into the abyss.
Where does tomorrow lead?
To the resonance of today. Ya Follow? |

Artist History
Tokn' J started the band CHOLA w/ Dirty D back in
in the year 1996. It was quite a ride for a number
of years until all of the loads finally caught up
with the karma of the band. There were tours,
groupies, parties, snakes in the grass (or least
a whole lotta grass), more shows, boozers, loosers,
more groupies, more snakes, haters, lovers, more haters
backstabbers, crazies, lazies, babies, phases, more
shows, and some other things that just kept draining
the purity of the music. Finally in the year 2002,
after a failed attempt at a move, CHOLA called it quits.
J then spent a short stint with another band that
went nowhere, and fast. Somehow, the Tokn' one
forgot that music was his passion, that is until
it was rekindled by the results of much meditation
on the only eternal gifts of this worldly
existence: peace, harmony, right action,
and above all else, love. It all finally
caught up with the mantra. That brings us to today.
Some of the Green Spot material reflects
the early years, some the turn of the
millenium years, and some reflects change as an
inevitable outcome. |
