Artist description
Mike Adams is a poet, writer, musician, organizer and philosopher from Southern Indiana. In 2003 Adams has been hard at work creating, shaping and reinventing his art form by introducing it in new forms by way of performance, print, and audio recording releases. Mike has been gaining national recognition with the advent of several recently published articles and poetry in national publications such as Nuvein Magazine and ZMag. Adams recently returned home in January after a very successful New York City tour in support of his latest spoken word release entitled "Epitaph". The tour landed him spots performing in well-established venues such as The Knitting Factory. Since returning home Adams has been engaged in writing various political articles for a Scripts-Howard publication as well as enjoying the support of all the people who frequent the local venues to watch him perform.
In August 2002, Adams organized an all-original music festival called "BIRTHFEST". This festival offered many different styles of music. Music from folk to industrial united in order to create a larger voice for original music. The event stirred up quite a bit of excitement and Adams found himself featured on the front page of the entertainment section of the Evansville Courier. Since the festival, Adams has become a highly respected spokesperson advocating for original music and art. Adams is considering other festivals for the future.
In 2001 Adams performed a small East Coast tour in support of his record entitled "Amoeba" (songs and spoken word). This tour included a stop in Washington DC (the night of the lighting of the nation's Christmas tree). Mike documented his travels and in the spring of 2002 published an article entitled "Too many American's buy into and illusionary patriotism". The article focused on society commercializing tragedy for profits.
Adams is currently working on his first book of fiction, some studio sessions, as well as material to be recorded for a new spoken word release entitled "History repeats itself". He is also planning to tour more cities with live performances throughout the year.
