Artist description
Michelle LaPorte is an active performer and flute educator. She has performed in numerous solo concerts, chamber music recitals, musical theatre productions, and orchestras. Most currently she has been heard as the principal flutist for Theatre Three Productions for over thirteen years and has performed with the C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival. She has also been seen on Cablevision as a featured soloist in performance at the Staller Center Main Stage. Ms. LaPorte is proud to perform as a Miyazawa Artist; endorsed and playing exclusively on Miyazawa flutes.
Ms. LaPorte is the Associate Professor of Flute Studies at Five Towns College and maintains an esteemed private teaching studio. She is also an adjunct flute instructor for Suffolk County Community College.
Ms. LaPorte is currently a member of the National Flute Association, the New York Flute Club, the Suffolk County Music Educators Association and has served as a board member of the Long Island Flute Club.
Michelle LaPorte earned a Master of Arts Degree in Music from Long Island University and has a B.A. in Music Performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Her flute performance studies have been with Samuel Baron. She has also attended master classes with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Jeanne Baxtresser, Robert Dick, Michel Debost, and Keith Underwood. |
